The API Security Certified Professional (ASCP) accreditation is awarded to cybersecurity professionals who have demonstrated exceptional API security expertise. Applicants must analyze, exploit, and find vulnerabilities in two custom-coded API-based applications. Successful applicants must find the embedded vulnerabilities to earn the ASCP certification by successfully exploit two custom API-based applications and find at least 6 of the 8 embedded vulnerabilities within a 12 hour timeframe. This certification rigorously evaluates a candidate's capability to not only understand theoretical concepts but also the practical aspects of API penetration testing. It offers a diverse array of vulnerabilities and employs a hybrid approach, integrating both white-box and black-box penetration testing methodologies.

I pursued this certification with the aim of further expanding my knowledge and skills in the realm of API penetration testing after attaining the Certified API Security Analyst (CASA) certification. The ASCP certification and APIsec University have proven to be invaluable resources, offering extensive learning opportunities, comprehensive content, and practical training to enhance my proficiency in API penetration testing.
